Vacationing at Home? 7 VR Chat Worlds That I Never Want to Leave
Who cares what the weather is like outside? We have so many places to explore here in Virtual Reality! I’ve spent a week wandering through worlds and found what I can definitively say are the best locations to chill out in by yourself or with friends!
1) London Solitude
by Lucifer MStar
This quiet loft apartment overlooks a beautiful London skyline. It immediately became my home in VR chat thanks to its cozy interior and rooftop patio. It’s a brilliant place to hang out with some friends to chat or even just to spend time by yourself. There are plenty of mirrors to look at and cushions to sit on, so it’s become somewhat of a social hub for me. It’s one of the more grounded and realistic worlds, so keeping it as a home base feels appropriate.
2) The Void Club
By Lycon
The Void Club offers an intense, pulse-pounding time with 24/7 electronic music and all sorts of colourful characters. Dancing in VR is surprisingly liberating since you can just hop around and wave your arms and everything works out in the end! The club also has VIP rooms and an exterior area with a cool dystopian cyberpunk aesthetic. If you ever have an urge to go flail about in public, it seems that this place is almost always busy!
3) Arctic Basement
by BluEyed
While the outside is a frozen wasteland, the interior of the Arctic Basement is the best part. It’s an incredibly cozy little bunker that might admittedly be claustrophobic to some. But there’s something about it that just makes me wish I could live here. Many of the passages have to be crawled through, and there are side beds and standing spaces, even a furnished bathroom. The very back has a flat bed with a mirrored ceiling, which is truly surreal to look up at while you’re laying on your back.
4) The Guanshiyin
by Xiexe
I’ll admit that The Expanse has quickly become my favourite sci-fi show (and perhaps my favourite show period?) so finding this perfectly modelled recreation of the luxury space transport is a real treat. The table has a holographic display and the panels can be tuned to play clips from the show. There’s also a toggle for engine sounds, which adds a lot to the effect. Who says that the solar system can’t be explored in style?
5) Japan Shrine
by ITOAR
A fully realized Shinto shrine is a sight to behold, and while I’m sure it still pales next to some of the real ones it’s still great to be able to have a visit. One perk is that the cherry blossoms are always in season, and there are no big lineups to place prayers. You might not be able to smell the flowers in bloom but being able to see and hear it all just feels so restful and meditative that it’s difficult to pull away from.
6) Udon Bird Sanctuary
by 1029Chris
Finally I can feed geese without forcing any empty calories on them! The Udon Bird Sanctuary has all kinds of waterfowl and other avian life along with some picnic benches covered in food that you can grab. They’ll waddle along and come right after you, snatching the bread from your hand if you let them! The birds here are surprisingly natural and honestly the whole experience is a delight.
7) The Fish Person’s Cove
by Lhannan
Despite the odd name, this wonderful beachside cove is an excellent place to relax. It has a lot of nice places to sit and plenty of secrets to uncover. There is a whole underwater area that leads into the cove that is probably the area’s namesake, but I failed to find any fish people. I mostly just found a lot of very nicely detailed water, so detailed that it can make you smell the ocean breeze.
